Tuition fees
The Master of Business Administration is a private master's degree from Tio Business School. Because of the private character and the exceptional education, the tuition fee is higher than that of government-funded education. With more budget, Tio can invest more into better lecturers, smaller classes, appealing projects and more lectures. The focus Tio puts on the quality of its education leads to satisfied students.
The overview below applies to Dutch students and students from the EU/EEA. For non-EU/EEA students, requiring a visa, Tio has put together a package fee. Detailed information on the package fee can be found below.

- The one-year full-time MBA programme runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 or from 1 August 2025 to 31 August 2026.
- The two-year part-time MBA programme runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026 or from 1 August 2025 to 31 August 2027.
- Tuition fee includes your study materials, examination and test fees, the study trip and the two-day kick-off event.
- Tuition fees may be indexed annually, based on inflation.
Financing this high quality programme
There are several options for financing Tio's tuition fees:
- Own income or loan through family.
- Student finance through DUO or home government.
The options, and other matters such as electives, cancellation and price guarantees, are explained below.
Package fee for non-EU/EEA student (student needing a visa)
Tio welcomes students from all over the world. The information on this page is meant for students requiring a student visa to study in the Netherlands. Tio has put together package fees for students requiring a visa. The package fee has to be paid upfront so Tio can proceed with the visa application and housing arrangements.

- If the tuition fee is paid in one full payment, a € 350 discount applies. If the tuition fee is paid in 12 instalments, the total tuition fee is € 23,950. For students from outside the EU/EEA who choose to pay in 12 monthly instalments, the first two instalments will be invoiced before the start of the academic year. This will be on the 1st of July for the September intake or on 1st of November for the January intake.
- The Dutch immigration authority requires you to prove that you are able to meet the financial requirements of living and studying in the Netherlands. There are several options in which you are able to indicate that you are able to meet the financial requirements towards Tio Business School and we will inform and assist you accordingly.
Non-EU package fee
The additional package fee for non-EU students is €14,750. This package fee includes your visa, insurance, housing first year (through DUWO University Housing)1, pick up at the airport and a deposit.
- Housing fees may vary depending on availability. In case you have your own housing via friends or relatives, kindly provide us with the address for the purpose of the visa application and note that the package fee will be deducted by the amount allocated for the housing expenses for one year. Please note that a hostel or hotel address does not meet the visa requirements as it is not accepted as a permanent living address.
Student finance via DUO
For Dutch students and students from the EU/EEA only
As a master student you may be eligible for Dutch student finance, provided you have not yet used all the assets of your student finance. If you have never used Dutch student finance for higher education, you are unfortunately not entitled to student finance for your MBA.
The student finance consists of a basic grant, a loan, tuition fee loan, the student travel product and a supplementary grant (depending on parental income). The student finance is paid out in monthly terms and will be deposited into your account at the end of every month.

The various components of the student finance are explained below.
Basic and supplementary grant
Basic grant
There is a distinction in amounts for students living at home and those living away from home. The basic grant for students living at home is € 121.33 per month, and for those living away from home, it is € 302.39 per month.Do you receive the basic grant as an MBA student?
That depends on the number of performance-related grant months you still have left. As a student, you are entitled to a performance-related grant for 4 years. After these 4 years, you enter the loan phase for the remaining period of your right to student finance – a maximum of 7 years.- If you have used the (higher education) student finance for 4 years (or more), you can only borrow as an MBA student. Maximum of € 1,028.33 per month.
- If you have used the (higher education) student grant for less than 4 years, as an MBA student you will receive student finance including a basic grant for the remaining performance-related grant months.
Supplementary grant
You are eligible to receive a supplementary grant if your parents have less than € 70,000 in joint annual income. The amount of the supplementary grant depends on the income of the parents and how many of their children are studying. The maximum amount of the supplementary grant is € 457.60 per month. Calculate what the amount is in your situation via the calculation tool on duo.nl. After obtaining your degree (within ten years) the supplementary grant converts to a gift.Study loan and tuition fee loan
Loan of € 3,524 to € 9,015 per year
Students may € 293.67 per month. If you do not receive a supplementary grant or if your supplementary grant is lower than the maximum, you can borrow the missing amount on top of the loan.Tuition fee loan of € 12,650 per year
Students who are eligible for student finance may also apply for a tuition fee loan from DUO. The tuition fee loan for a bachelor or master programme at Tio amounts to €12,650 per year. It is paid out in twelve monthly terms of €1,054.17, at the same time as the rest of the student finance.Conditions for a loan
The loan is taken out in the student’s name. This does not require any guarantee from a third party. The interest rate for 2024 is set at 2.56%. As soon as you receive the first payment of your loan, your loan will start to accrue interest that you must pay back later. The interest rate is subject to annual changes. After graduating the interest rate is frozen for five years at a time.Borrowing with flexible repayment
You can borrow from DUO at very favorable conditions. Read below how that works.
Loan and repayment via DUO
You start repaying your loan two years after graduating. Of course, you can start your repayments sooner if you wish. You can make use of a payment-free period of up to five years, which you can rely on when you are going through an expensive time and need the money for other things (e.g. raising young children or buying a house). Having student debt will affect your ability to get a mortgage in the future. However, it will not prevent you from getting a mortgage.Conditions for a DUO loan
The loan is taken out in the student’s name. This does not require any guarantee from a third party. The interest rate for 2024 is set at 2,56%. As soon as you receive the first payment of your loan, your loan will start to accrue interest that you must pay back later. The interest rate is subject to annual changes. After graduating the interest rate is frozen for five years at a time.Repay student debt in 35 years
The repayment period is set at 35 years. Repayment of the interest-bearing loan starts ± 2 years after graduating and lasts for a maximum of 35 years. Additionally, the monthly amount you have to pay is never more than 4% of the income over the ability to pay exemption. If you earn less than the minimum wage, you do not have to repay your loan. If you have any leftover debt after 35 years, that sum is waived.Example

Student travel product
The student travel product is part of the student finance. There are two types of subscriptions: a week subscription and a weekend subscription. If you spend time abroad as part of your bachelor programme, you are eligible to receive a monthly public transport compensation of € 114.92 instead of the student travel product.
Am I eligible for student finance?
For Dutch students and students from the EU/EEA only
As a master student you may be eligible for Dutch student finance, provided you have not yet used all the assets of your student finance. If you have never used Dutch student finance for higher education, you are unfortunately not entitled to student finance for your MBA.
The student finance for the Master of Business Administration is part of the student finance for higher education. In higher education you can get a total of 7 years of student finance and 5 years for the student travel product. As long as you have not yet used your 7 years of student finance, you can apply for student finance for your MBA.
If you are currently receiving Dutch student finance, you can log in to DUO and see under 'My products' how many months of study you have used. The student finance for the MBA can only be granted if you meet the requirements mentioned above, plus you have a bachelor's degree and this is also registered with DUO.Student finance for students from the EU/EEA
Conditions for students from the EU/EEA
You qualify for student finance and the student travel product if you meet 1 of the following requirements. You must also meet 1 of these requirements to get only the student travel product.- You have been living in the Netherlands for 5 consecutive years or more.
- You are a migrant worker. You work in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours a month based on an official employment contract (the start date of your employment contract must be the 1st of the month) or you have a monthly income of at least 50% of the social security norm. Your entitlement to student finance will continue for the duration of your contract.
Do you work less than 32 hours per month, or is your monthly income less than 50% of the social security norm? Then DUO will assess your situation separately. - Your non-Dutch parent or partner has the nationality of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and is, or was, a migrant worker. Your parent or partner works, or has worked, in the Netherlands for at least 32 hours per month. Or your parent or partner has, or had, a monthly income of at least 50% of the social security norm.
If you don't meet one of the above mentioned requirements, you can still apply for a tuition fee loan (annual amount of €12,650), but you are not entitled to student finance. For more information visit DUO’s website.
Student grant via home government
You can apply for a student grant at your home government, even if you are doing your full time bachelor programme in the Netherlands. Please check if this also applies to your situation. Check the rules and conditions at the website of your home government.Above mentioned information does not apply to Dutch students.
Health care benefit
(For Dutch students only)
If you are 18 years of age or older and your income is lower than € 37,496 per year, you are entitled to a healthcare benefit. The healthcare benefit is maximised at € 123 per month for incomes under € 26,500. To be eligible for a healthcare benefit, it does not matter who pays for your health insurance. Your parents can pay the bills, as long as the insurance policy is in your name.More information
Performance-related grant
As a bachelor and master student, your student finance is a performance grant. It is a loan that must be paid back after you earn your degree. The student travel product, basis grant and supplementary grant may be turned into gifts, as long as you graduate within ten years of the first month in which you received student finance.Earning an income
You can earn as much as you want without losing your right to student finance, for example with your job or your own business.Statutory tuition fee
Tio is a private educational institution. The statutory tuition fee of € 2,530 (2024-2025 academic year), therefore, does not apply.
Scholarships
Tio offers scholarships to foreign students from the European Union (EU /EEA) and to non-European students for its English study programmes. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year.
Tio super talent scholarship
The amount of this scholarship is € 11,975 per full-degree student. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year. It is possible to apply for this scholarship every year. You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:
- You must have outstanding study results.
- You must have an IELTS Academic score of 7.0 or higher, TOEFL iBT score of 100 or higher, Cambridge exam of CAE-A or higher or CEFR C1 level or higher.
Tio talent scholarship
The amount of this scholarship is € 5,987.50 per full-degree student. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year. It is possible to apply for this scholarship every year. You are eligible if you meet the following criteria:
- You must have above average study results.
- You must have an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher, Cambridge exam of CAE-B or higher or CEFR C1 level or higher.
How to apply for a scholarship
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, you need to provide Tio with the following information:
- Send your letter of motivation and curriculum vitae in English to admissions@tio.nl.
- Attach a letter of recommendation in English from your former (secondary) school.
- Attach a legalised copy of all Higher Education qualifications translated into English.
- Attach a legalised copy of recent mark/grade lists translated into English.
- Attach a legalised copy of your English language proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/Cambridge exam).
- Send in a self-made video of yourself of 2-5 minutes, whereby you will introduce yourself and tell something about yourself. E.g. why you chose to study at Tio Business School, what makes you most excited about your study programme or about what you expect from living and studying in the Netherlands. Please note: this video will be used for your scholarship application only and will not be used for any other purposes.
After the deadline of July 1st (September enrolment) or November 1st (January enrolment), you will be informed whether or not the scholarship can be awarded. When awarded, the scholarship is paid out as a discount on your tuition fee. All scholarships are subject to availability and only available for non-Dutch nationality students.
Payment options (payment in instalments)
The tuition fee for the 2025-2026 academic year is € 23,950. This all-in fee includes study materials, study trip (for bachelor and mba students), exam/test fees and projects. The one-time enrolment fee is € 95. The bachelor and MBA programmes start in August and January, while our associate degrees start in August. You can pay your tuition fee in two ways:
- As a single payment before 1 August 2025 (or 1 January 2025 if enrolling in January) or within 14 days of the invoice date. A € 350 tuition discount applies.
- Or you can pay in 12 instalments (€ 1,995.83 per instalment). This happens via direct debit on the due dates shown below. The first instalment is due on 1 September (or 1 February for those who start classes in January).
If you choose to pay in instalments, this happens through a direct debit authorisation on the dates mentioned below. The tuition fee and the optional courses will be invoiced around 1 July 2024 (1 December 2024 – January enrolment). Invoices will be sent by email.
